Gene Russell started out as a gifted athlete. An impressive runner by any measure. But there was always something missing. His father was a tremendous artist. Paintings surrounded him in his home while growing up. He loved music. But did not have the gift to play instruments like his siblings. So throughout high school and college, he ran. And most often, he won the race. Then he began doing a little drawing (caricatures of his friends, landscapes, whatever). It calmed him and made him more composed throughout his running. | |
He stepped away from it for a while but was reinvigorated when his cousin put something together on Facebook about sharing talents in the family. He started to draw again. Many were surprised. They did not know the runner was also an artist. Now Gene is making his distinctive artwork available to the public. Gene is the father of twin sons and lives with his wife of 39 years in Bethlehem PA. |
